East Lodge’s Commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), Responsible Investing (RI) and Our Broader Community

Having achieved our 2021 target of becoming a UNPRI signatory, we remain accountable and conscious of the many challenges facing society today. As a firm, we strive to tackle these challenges through the development and implementation of comprehensive ESG and RI practices.

East Lodge’s ESG and RI policies were developed with today’s best practices in mind and will evolve over time as the firm continues to engage with external organizations and agencies to ensure our approach meets growing societal demand. East Lodge’s partners and employees strongly believe it is our duty to be responsible corporate citizens and to contribute to shaping a sustainable future.

East Lodge is committed to driving positive social change and supports a variety of charities and community efforts.

East Lodge encourages all partners and employees of the firm to invest time into supporting local charities. Additional paid leave is granted for the purpose of participating in social causes, and the firm also matches staff donations given to a variety of charities.

East Lodge looks to the UN Sustainable Development Goals as a guide to ensure the charities the firm supports meet our broader mission, and an emphasis has been placed on education and generating opportunities for children from a variety of underserved backgrounds.

East Lodge is also a proud supporter of veterans’ organizations. We are committed to honoring the Armed Forces Covenant and supporting the Armed Forces community. We recognize that today’s veterans bring unique abilities and experiences to a civilian workforce, including self-motivation and an ability to work under pressure and thrive in a team within a challenging environment. By signing the covenant, we recognize the value that serving personnel, veterans, service leaders and their families bring to our business. As a sign of our commitment, we are a recognized participant of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).

We are cognizant of the urgent need to address climate change. As a firm, we are committed to supporting the global effort to create a greener future for generations to come, in line with the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment. Our approach to this consists of:

A commitment to do our utmost to investigate and understand any environmental impact of our potential investments.
A determination to engage with external third-party organizations and industry bodies to develop more transparent methods of reporting for our investors.
Reducing our environmental footprint, cultivating a resource-efficient mindset in our employees and proudly becoming a carbon-neutral firm in 2021.

Social

We are eager to help shape a more equitable, inclusive society and drive positive social impact in our community. Our commitment to this includes:

Evaluating how our investments can have a lasting impact on communities and their livelihoods; for example, ensuring all credit profiles are fair, equitable and managed in accordance with the Financial Conduct Authority’s Treating Customers Fairly initiative.
Championing diversity and inclusion – from partnering with organizations that support people from minority communities and disadvantaged backgrounds to strictly using recruiters that can offer a diverse pool of candidates.
Developing human capital to acquire and retain talent, while simultaneously enhancing the firm’s culture and business productivity.

Governance

We recognize the trust that our investors place in us and our fiduciary duty to ensure that our practices are ethical, law-abiding, and transparent. This responsibility ultimately lies with the firm’s Management Committee which governs adherence to our procedures, including:

Operating robust governance procedures that protect all investors across the capital structure.
Conducting extensive due diligence on potential third-party service providers prior to the appointment of a chosen provider.
Employing a strict compliance monitoring program and a compensation policy underpinned by a formal, written performance review process.
