Julian Versteeg, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and MLRO
Mr. Versteeg is General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and MLRO at East Lodge Capital. Mr. Versteeg was admitted as a solicitor at Clifford Chance in 2002 and has spent over 20 years working in financial services and is a member of AIMA’s Securitization and Alternative Credit Working Groups. Mr. Versteeg left Clifford Chance as a Senior Associate to join Standard Bank’s emerging markets mortgage trading desk. He then joined BNYM, focusing predominantly on Lloyds TSB, Santander, Barclays, and RBS’s securitization and covered bond platforms and led their EMEA document standards project. For his activities, he received the global BNYM “above and award” firm award. At Chenavari, Mr. Versteeg held legal functional responsibility for the firm’s flagship fund (Toro Limited), the firm’s public CLO manager and private cash/synthetic loan trading platforms, the firm’s USD1.5bn Luxembourg securitization vehicle (Areo), and its commodity financings and consumer asset direct lending and private equity consumer finance investments. Before joining East Lodge Capital, Mr. Versteeg assisted Demica in building a new division providing an investment platform for a large global insurer. Mr. Versteeg is regulated by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority and is an Approved Person by the Financial Conduct Authority. Mr. Versteeg holds a BA in History from the University of Birmingham, was a 1996 ESU Capitol Hill Scholar and as part of the UN 2005 Year of Microfinance was a founding member the London Microfinance Club, now the UK’s Financial Inclusion Forum.
